Lanai Island　ーThe Private Isleー

Lanai is located in the southern part between Maui and Molokai, is the sixth-largest island of the Hawaiian Islands. Lanai area about 360 square kilometers.

This island formerly belonged to James Dole.

James Dole develop 20%Land as pineapple plantations.

Then James Dole’s company sale the land to the US trading company. In the 1960s, 98% area of the island is own by Dole Food Company.

Thereafter Southeast Asia due to churning out cheap pineapple,  pineapple farming of Lanai were retired.

And the company began to transition developed into resort areas, such as luxury hotels and golf courses.

Among The Experience at Koele Golf and Courses Manele Golf Course is the top 10 golf courses selected by American golf magazine “Golf Digest”, of which the first 12 tee view can overlooking the sea, even the millionaire-Microsoft founder Bill Gates weddings are held in here.

It is also known as “Pineapple Island” because of its past as an island-wide pineapple plantation. But now it have a new nickname, called “The Private Isle”
